Dave Jones I am a PhD Candidate at Old Dominion University in the English Department’s Professional Writing and New Media track. I study Interaction Design, Experience Design, computer and video games, social media, Media Studies, and Cultural Studies. My research focuses on designing for the movement of information and content among systems, and the maintenance of pervasive experiences that bridge brick-and-mortar activities with computer-mediated activities.

My dissertation research will look at gaming networks to explore how the moral economies of co-creative practices figure into participant experiences. I argue that future research and design of collaborative networks must account for the encoding of social and labor economies into the participant experience, especially in networks that foster asymmetrical economic relationships in which multiple forms of capital are distributed to and valued by different participants.
